Street Photography

Street Photography

Saturday 02 November
Downtown Hartford - 12pm - 2 Hours
Hartford Photography Group
Jahvon John
Street photography is a genre of photography that captures candid moments of everyday life in public places, such as streets, parks, and other urban areas. It often involves taking pictures of people, buildings, and objects in their natural environment, without any posing or staging.

Street photography has a rich history, with notable photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Garry Winogrand, and Vivian Maier having made significant contributions to the genre. It requires a certain level of skill and patience to capture compelling images in the midst of the chaos and unpredictability of the streets.

Today, street photography continues to be popular among both amateur and professional photographers. With the advent of digital cameras and smartphones, it has become more accessible than ever before. However, there are still certain ethical considerations to keep in mind, such as obtaining permission from individuals before taking their photos and being respectful of people's privacy.

Great class! Instructor was very patient and helpful. He showed us how to adjust the camera settings for different lighting and for different images we were photographing. We each had different cameras and he was very knowledgeable about each one. I?m now not afraid to change my he camera settings for fear of ?breaking ? the camera. And I didn?t know my camera had so many features. Looking forward to the next training on Flash.

I have been into photography for some time now (20plus years, but who's keeping track!). It started out as a hobby and grew from there. Portraits are my main focus, but I like exploring different avenues as well. Lighting is key, and setting up various equipment to get the desired effect is my passion for creating images that have an impact for both me and my audience.

While working on a project at old Sturbridge Village, I happened into the pottery shop where this young gentleman was greeting visitors. I had been photographing all morning, so was prepared for the low lighting conditions. My biggest challenge was to capture the subject in his natural setting. He was very animated and after editing the shot I realized that I liked what I saw , his personality shining through. Shot with Nikon z50 f7.1 ISO 4000 at 1/80 shutter speed with Z DX 50-250 mm.

This shot was taken on my first day into this trip. My wife and I decided to spend Labor Day weekend in the mountains which was wonderful but also very busy which isn't the best for wildlife photography. However, I did come away with some good shots from my outing (mostly landscape) and this is by far one of my favorite. I love how the light is striking the deer's face while he is mostly shrouded in shadow. I took this with a Nikon 200-500mm @ 500, 1/160s, ISO 100 and f6.3. I shot this across th

Was out looking for anything to photograph on one my few days off from work. So I went to the plot of land where I deer hunt. Any wild flower that may still be in bloom, insects, things like that. Tons of grasshoppers everywhere and I came across this fella. I didn't realize he possibly had a wounded left wing until I processed the photos. No wonder he sat thru many different angles, exposures, and me getting up in his face and didn't offer to fly off.
